You can bet that Super Bowl excitement is in the air… because it is!

Super Bowl excitement is definitely brewing after this weekend’s first NFL playoff games. Yahoo Sports has a list of the best hotels to stay at for the 2011 Super Bowl, Bloomberg has an article about how the odds on the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl have dropped since their win this weekend and Kim Kardashian announced her plans to be in a Super Bowl commercial for Skechers ShapeUps.

Our take on all this news – Yahoo’s hotel list is kind of a stupid. The hotels listed are The Days Inn, The Courtyard and The Holiday Inn. We could have created this list with a simple Expedia search or maybe even less. Bloomberg’s article on the Seahawks’ Super Bowl odds was good. We made the exact same point in our last article, so they were thinking along the same track. Of course, if you think Seattle will win the Super Bowl, but on them now before their next game because if they win again this weekend, their odds will drop further fast. Kim Karadashian’s commercial is for sneakers that help shape your butt. Doesn’t everyone know that her butt had that shape years ago before the Shape Up sneakers were ever invented? Seems like a dumb commercial.

Okay, so we cover some of the Super Bowl coverage that’s currently out there. One thing that I forgot to mention earlier is that you can already bet on the Super Bowl coin toss at the BoDog online sportsbook. I was at their site this last weekend, looking at the lines and prop bets on the NFL wildcard games, and noticed that this prop bet is already up. As usual the odds are -105 for either heads or tails. After all it’s a 50/50 bet.

We covered Saturday’s NFL playoff games is our last article. So now we’ll cover the odds and bets available on the Seattle Seahawks at the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets at the New England Patriots. All four of this weekend’s games will have a lot of prop bets, and we’ll be back with a list of those later in the week.

The Seattle Seahawks travel to the Chicago Bears this Sunday and coverage starts at 1pm EST. Seattle was a big upset this week as they were an underdog by 11 points. They have about the same spread this week. The Bears are currently a 10 point favorite at every online sports book and the over/under is set at an even 40. If you really like Seattle to win this game, you should consider betting them on the money line. The money line odds for Seattle to win straight up vary between +350 to +400 depending on the sportsbook. If you wanted to bet Chicago on the money line, you can currently get them between -440 and -500.

The 4:30 EST Sunday game is between the New York Jets and the New England Patriots. This game has another big favorite in the Patriots. The current odds online show New England to be about an 8.5 to 9 point favorite over the Jets with the over/under set at 45.5 points. If you like the Jets to win this game, you should consider betting them on the money line. It’s currently between +320 to +345 for the Jets to win, and -385 to -410 to bet on the Patriots to win.

One of the reasons that the Patriots are such heavy favorites in this game is their history in the NFL playoffs and past Super Bowls. After the New England Patriots have been to 4 Super Bowls in the last 10 years and have won 3 of them. When it comes to betting on the Super Bowl, the Patriots has proven to be a solid bet.

The Super Bowl is less than a month away!

It’s time to get your NFL Super Bowl future bets in! The odds change every week, and if you like the Seahawks to win the Super Bowl, you should bet them now! If they win another game, their odds are going to drop like a rock. Right now odds to bet the Super Bowl winner online are as follows:

New England Patriots +165
New York Jets +1700
Atlanta Falcons +515
Pittsburgh Steelers +625
Green Bay Packers +615
Baltimore Ravens +1025
Chicago Bears +750
Seattle Seahawks +7000

After this weekend’s NFL games, there are only 8 teams left, 2 of which will go to the Super Bowl and obviously 1 will win. After this wildcard weekend, every team to lose will be eliminated. There are no more bye weeks!

This week’s games include the Baltimore Ravens at the Pittsburgh Steelers. This game is at 4:30 EST on Saturday, and the Steelers are favored by 3.5 points. The odds on the money line are the Baltimore Ravens +167 and the Pittsburgh Steelers -178. Basically, if you like the Ravens to win this game, you should bet them on the money line. If you bet $100 and they win, you will win $167. Not bad! Of course, the Steelers have won 2 Super Bowls in the last 10 years, so they know how to win in pressure situations. The over/under for this game is 36.5 points.

The 8:00 EST game on Saturday is the Green Bay Packers at the Atlanta Falcons. The Packers had an exciting win yesterday and Atlanta had the weekend off to prepare. The odds makers are expecting this to be the closest game of the weekend (and maybe the entire NFL playoffs). Different online sports books have a wide range of odds for this game. Right now the line is fluctuating between the Atlanta Falcons -1 to -2.5. So, if you like Atlanta to win and you wanted to bet with the spread, you should try to find one of the online sports books that’s currently hanging a line of Atlanta -1. If you want to bet on the Green Bay Packers, you should try to find a sportsbook that has Atlanta -2.5.

The money line odds for this game range between sportsbooks from Atlanta -130 and Green Bay +120 to the Falcons –120 and the Packers +105. It looks like the best money line bets to can get on the Atlanta Falcons is -120 and the best you can get on the Green Bay Packers is +120. That’s some of the closest money line bets I’ve ever seen!

The over under on this game has a little flexibility too. It moves from 45 to 45.5 depending on which online sportsbook you use, so try to shop around before you place a bet!

We’ll be back with more odds and bets for the Seattle Seahawks at the Chicago Bears game and the New York Jets at the New England Patriots game in a few hours. Thanks for stopping by Bet on the NFL Super Bowl 2011. Remember to book mark us for all you information for the 2011 NFL playoffs and Super Bowl!

NFL Super Bowl Predictions… and sports betting

First let’s look at playoff predictions. If the season ended today, the NFL playoff picture would look like this:

AFC:
New York Jets
Baltimore Ravens
Indianapolis Colts
Kansas City Chiefs
New England Patriots
Pittsburgh Steelers

NFC:
Atlanta Falcons
Philadelphia Eagles
New York Giants
Chicago Bears
Seattle Seahawks
New Orleans Saints

This of course could make for some interesting Super Bowl match ups. There could be a rematch of the Saints and the Colts, the Patriots and the Giants, the Colts and the Bears, or the Steelers and the Seahawks. If any of those scenarios occurred, who would you bet on? Would you bet on the team that won last time? Or would you go with the loser of the first match up?

Of course most bettors would need to reevaluate each team based on their current year’s performance, and that’s probably the best way to do it. When betting on the Super Bowl, it’s also important to look at how each team made it though the playoffs. A lot of Super Bowl bettors place too much importance on the regular season when determining their bets. How a team plays in the regular season is important, and a very important part in making it to the playoffs, but how a team plays in the post season is what makes champions. For my money, I would rather bet on a team that barely made the playoffs, but played really good through out than a team that dominated during the regular season, but barely made it to the Super Bowl.

One of the more interesting match ups would be a New York Jets vs New York Giants Super Bowl. Surprisingly, the idea of this Super Bowl match up seams to annoy most New Yorkers. Aside for the fact that both teams play in New Jersey, and that they Super Bowl will be held across the country in Dallas, most Jets fans don’t like the Giants, and Giants fans, which usually never have to hear about the Jets have been getting an earful over the last couple of years which all of the things the team has been doing. First they signed Brett Favre for a year. The following year, Favre was out, but Rex Ryan was in.

For those of you who don’t know, Rex Ryan is by far the most vocal coach in the NFL. He talks trash and it seems like he incruages his team to as well. This year HBO’s series Hard Knocks, where they follow an NFL team through their training camp, was centered around the Jets. If any NFL fans didn’t know much about Rex Ryan before that series, they should know a whole lot more now!

Okay, so aside from just Super Bowl betting and odds, we would like to take set back and bring you some odds for team to win their division and conference in order to get to the Super Bowl. Right now we are going to focus on the AFC Championship and the Division races. (We will be back with updated Super Bowl odds soon though).

Odds to win the AFC Championship
Baltimore Ravens +400
Cleveland Browns +15000
Houston Texans +10000
Indianapolis Colts +1000
Jacksonville Jaguars +5000
Kansas City Chiefs +1800
Miami Dolphins +8000
New England Patriots +350
New York Jets +400
Oakland Raiders +10000
Pittsburgh Steelers +450
San Diego Chargers +450
Tennessee Titans +6500

As you can see, no one thinks the Browns will win the AFC. The odds of them making the playoffs are terrible. But this is a team that might have some value if they made the playoffs. They have by far had the toughest schedule in the NFL. They also have 3 easy games coming up, so they could make a run.

Odds to win the Division – AFC South (everyone still has a shot!)
Indianapolis Colts -155
Houston Texans +900
Tennessee Titans +450
Jacksonville Jaguars +350

Odds to win the Division – NFC East
Philadelphia Eagles -150
New York Giants +110
Washington Redskins +5000

Odds to win the Division – AFC East
New England Patriots -115
New York Jets -110
Miami Dolphins +10000
My money is on the better odds… which is the Jets

Odds to win the Division – AFC North
Baltimore Ravens -115
Pittsburgh Steelers -110

Odds to win the Division – AFC West
San Diego Chargers -200
Oakland Raiders +1200
Kansas City Chiefs +175

These odds are surprising since the Chiefs are currently winning the division.

Odds to win the Division – NFC North
Green Bay Packers -175
Chicago Bears +130

Odds to win the Division – NFC South
New Orleans Saints +120
Atlanta Falcons -145
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +2000

The Bucs could have some value here. They are 2 games out, but they have 3 easy games left this year. Unfortunately they are currently losing the tie breakers with both the Saints and the Falcons.

That’s all for now. Thanks for reading Bet the NFL Super Bowl. We’ll be back with more odds, bets and general sports betting advice soon!

The NFL starts this week!

That’s right, most NFL training camps start this week. The earliest one started last Friday in Cleveland. Of course the Browns suck so bad that they probably need more practise that all the other teams! Poor Cleveland. The Browns are terrible year in and year out, and now they lose the best athlete that city has ever since in LeBron James. Well, at least they had him for a few years.

Below we list all the NFL training camps. Just think next February two of these teams will be playing in the Super Bowl. Check out BoDog if you want the odds to place a bet on which two. Or if you want the odds on the Super Bowl winner…

San Francisco 49ers’ Camp Santa Clara, CA Jul-30
Chicago Bears’ Camp Bourbonnais, IL Jul-30
Cincinnati Bengals’ Camp Georgetown, KY Jul-28
Buffalo Bills’ Camp Pittsford, NY Jul-29
Kansas City Chiefs’ Camp St. Joseph, MO Jul-29
Indianapolis Colts’ Camp Anderson, IN Aug-1
Dallas Cowboys’ Camp Oxnard, CA Jul-24
Miami Dolphins’ Camp Davie, FL Jul-30
Philadelphia Eagles’ Camp Bethlehem, PA Jul-26
Atlanta Falcons’ Camp Flowery Branch, GA Jul-29
New York Giants’ Camp Albany, NY Aug-1
Jacksonville Jaguars’ Camp Jacksonville, FL Jul-29
New York Jets’ Camp Cortland, NY Jul-29
Detroit Lions’ Camp Allen Park, MI Jul-30
Green Bay Packers’ Camp De Pere, WI Jul-30
Carolina Panthers’ Camp Spartanburg, SC Jul-28
New England Patriots’ Camp Foxboro, MA Jul-25
Oakland Raiders’ Camp Napa Valley, CA Jul-28
St Louis Rams’ Camp Earth City, MO Jul-28
Baltimore Ravens’ Camp Westminster, MD Jul-26
Washington Redskins’ Camp Ashburn, VA Jul-29
New Orleans Saints’ Camp Metairie, LA Jul-29
Seattle Seahawks’ Camp Renton, WA Jul-29
Pittsburgh Steelers’ Camp Latrobe, PA Jul-30
Houston Texans’ Camp Houston, TX Jul-30
Tennessee Titans’ Camp Nashville, TN Jul-31
Minnesota Vikings’ Camp Mankato, MN Jul-30

I can’t blame LeBron for leaving Cleveland, after all he turned down more money to go to a team that he thinks he can win a championship with. They guy wants to win. He wants to win so bad that he’s earning millions less than he would have if he had stayed in Cleveland…

The NFL Offseason doldrums…

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BETTING THE KENTUCKY DERBY, PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR LIST OF RECOMMENDED ONLINE SPORTSBOOKS. THESE ARE THE BEST SPORTSBOOK ONLINE, AND YOU WON’T BE DISSAPOINTED WITH ANY OF THEM. THANKS.

It looks like New York Jets are making some strong moves this offseason. They had a nice run into the playoffs last year and this could be the reason why they went out and got LT, Santonio Holmes from the Steelers and and in talks with Jason Taylor. Of course their division looks harder now with Brandon Marshall headed to the Miami Dolphins from the Denver Boncos.

Miami got Brandon Marshall for 2 second round draft picks. Man this is cheap. He is one of the best receivers in the league, and I’m sure a number of other teams would have loved to grab him for only a couple of second round picks. Of course, Marshall does get paid a lot, and this must have been a part of the consideration, but the guy will instantly improve the Dolphins entire offense.

In the same division, it looks like the Jets fan is trying to revive a lawsuit against the New England Patriots over Spygate. If you’re not familiar with Spygate, this was when the Pats got caught video taping other teams’ practices to using these tapes to sell signs and help predict what other teams would do. This is strictly forbidden in the NFL, but even as more information broke about this story, the NFL kind of covered it up. They just tried to rap it out quickly and move past it, but a lot of people were left unsatisfied. This explains the lawsuit from a disgruntled Jets fan, who has seen his team get crushed by a bunch of cheaters for over a decade. South Park did a good and funny parody on this where Cartman instructs poor Hispanic students to cheat like Bill Belichick.

Betting the Super Bowl is a lot of fun. A LOT of fun. And that’s way I created this site. To inform people how to bet on the big game. After all, this isn’t exactly a topic you can look up on Wikipedia. And when you try to google information on how to bet the Super Bowl, instead of getting actual useful site, you usually end up getting a million online sportsbooks.

This does make some sense, because you will most probably bet on the NFL with an online sportsbook, as oppose to a sportsbook in Las Vegas or your local neighborhood bookie. But these sites still aren’t as important as the information that you’ll get here. This site will give you all kinds of news and odds on the Super Bowl and the playoffs, we rank the top online sportsbooks and bonuses, and provide NFL information throughout the year, like during the NFL draft that this happening this weekend.

I used to have a lot more content on this site, but shit happens, and most of it was deleted. After that happened, I had to work to create a lot of new pages here, which may or may not be the most interesting or relevant. Also with the way the search engines are filtering sites now, it’s impossible to simply steal a Super Bowl story from a smaller site, post it here and call it my own. Trust me, I would love to do this. I used to do this a few years ago before everyone started saving their content and search engines weren’t able to look for duplicate content, but those days are over. Now I actually have to write articles and things to put on this site, and just me, it gets boring in the off season. That’s why I’m writing this gibberish. Odds are no one will ever read this anyway. In fact, if you’re reading this, send me an email. I think it’s be funny.

Super Bowl odds for 2011 are out

Is it ever too early to start betting on the Super Bowl? Probably not…

Yes. The odds are out for Super Bowl XLV and two favorites to win it are the Saints and the Colts.

Right now the Colts offer the smallest odds to win the next Super Bowl in Arlington , Texas at 13-2. “We’ve got to bounce back and get another shot at it,” Colts receiver Reggie Wayne said after the 2010 lose.

Not surprisingly, the Saints are also favored to be there, getting 7-1 odds on winning it. A few New Orleans players mentioned a Saints dynasty after their recent Super Bowl win, so you know that they think it’s possible.

The 2011 Super Bowl will be held in the Dallas Cowboys’ new $1.1 billion stadium. The Cowboys are the third favorite at 15-2 to win it and also have a shot at becoming the first team to win the NFL Super Bowl in its home city.

The New England Patriots, who entered this season as 4-1 Super Bowl favorites, are tied with the San Diego Chargers as the fourth choice for the 2011 Super Bowl with 17-2 odds.

Following these teams, the Green Bay Packers are 19-2, the Minnesota Vikings are 11-1 and the Pittsburgh Steelers are 12-1.

The New York Jets, who lost to the Colts in the AFC championship game, are given 14-1, and the New York Giants are 15-1. Right now, I kind of like the odds on the Jets. I think they have the most value, followed by the Patriots.

Here is the complete list of odds for the 2010 Super Bowl (in case you want to bet it really early). Maybe you can roll over some of the money you won on Super Bowl XLIV…

Indianapolis Colts 13-2
New Orleans Saints 7-1
Dallas Cowboys 15-2
New England Patriots 17-2
San Diego Chargers 17-2
Green Bay Packers 19-2
Minnesota Vikings 11-1
Pittsburgh Steelers 12-1
New York Jets 14-1
New York Giants 15-1
Philadelphia Eagles 18-1
Atlanta Falcons 20-1
Tennessee Titans 22-1
Baltimore Ravens 24-1
Chicago Bears 28-1
Houston Texans 30-1
Miami Dolphins 30-1
Cincinnati Bengals 35-1
Arizona Cardinals 40-1
San Francisco 49ers 45-1
Denver Broncos 45-1
Jacksonville Jaguars 45-1
Washington Redskins 50-1
Cleveland Browns 60-1
Carolina Panthers 60-1
Detroit Lions 80-1
Seattle Seahawks 80-1
Buffalo Bills 100-1
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 125-1
Kansas City Chiefs 125-1
Oakland Raiders 125-1
St. Louis Rams 150-1

Thanks for reading. Enjoy the offseason. I know we will.

Only a few more days to bet the 2010 Super Bowl

Every year we rank the best online sportsbooks to bet the Super Bowl. This year our #1 ranked sportsbook is BoDog (Click here to visit). This site wins in safety, customer service and bets offered. The last thing you want to do is win a bet and not get paid. We guarantee that won’t happen at BoDog. If you want to read more about our recommended sportsbooks, please see our updated sportsbook review.

Super Bowl Betting –
In out last post, we listed some of the hundreds of things that you can bet on Sunday. BoDog currently has odds available on almost anything you can think of. You can bet on the number of times Peyton Manning gets sacked or the number of times CBS shows Eli Manning watching the game.

BoDog (and several other online sportsbooks) also offer live in game betting on the Super Bowl. That means you can bet on a team or an adjusted total after every play. The spread also changes throughout the game depending on what’s happening. Suppose Reggie Bush runs back the opening kickoff for a touchdown. The spread will quickly change from the Colts -6 to the Saints -1. What if Drew Brees has a game ending injury on the Saints first drive? You should expect the spread to jump from the Colts -6 to the Colts -14 or more. Watching the spread move is a lot of fun.

Super Bowl Ticket Prices –
On a side note, Super Bowl ticket prices have dropped this year. If you go to Stubhub right now, you can find the cheapest tickets for around $1,400 each. The cheapest tickets were originally priced around $3,500. Sellers are blaming the weak economy and the fact that the Colts were just in a Super Bowl in Miami 3 years ago.

The weakened economy caused tickets to be cheaper in two ways. First corporations, which usually purchase a lot of tickets haven’t this year. This means there are more tickets available for fans to purchase. This is a good thing, and it leads to more tickets being offered in secondary ticket markets (like Stubhub, Ebay, etc.). Secondly, individuals are saving more and spending less. Fans who might have paid $2,000 or more to go to the Super Bowl a few years ago are now happier staying close to home and spending far less.

Personally, if I was going to spend $2,000 Super Bowl weekend, I’d much rather bet that money and try to turn it into $4,000 than go to the game and sit in the worst seats in the stadium. It would make the game a lot more interesting, and you would either have a great story of triumph (your team won and you won $2,000) or a great story of despair (your team lost and you lost $2,000). Yeah, I think saving that money and betting on the Super Bowl would be my course of action.

Thank You!
We can’t say this enough, but thanks for continuing to read our site – Bet the NFL Super Bowl. Of course, our traffic goes way up this time of the year. We originally started this site to teach people how to bet the Super Bowl (since it’s the most heavily bet game of the year). Since then we’ve evolved to providing Super Bowl news, odds and sportsbooks rankings. From the feedback we get, people mostly already know how to bet the spread and prop bets. Instead our readers wanted to know which online sportsbooks were offering the best and most interesting bets on the game, and I think we cover that well.

If there is anything we discuss that you would like to see more of, please let us know. Enjoy the big game!
