The odds for the Bears to win the Super Bowl at Sportsbook were released at 40/1. That number had changed during the off-season, but it gives us an idea of what was expected from the Chicago Bears if they were to start this season with the exact same team that they ended last year with. Getting Jay Culter is by far the biggest roster move for the any NFL team this off season and Las Vegas responded by adjusting the odds in the Bears’ favor. The same sports book that opened with Chicago at 40 to 1 odds, recently adjusted them down to 25/1. This move doesn’t make the Bears the best contender for the NFL championship in the super bowl this year, but they are obviously expected to be much better than before with Cutler running the offense. Chicago should be able to improve on those odds even more with their draft if they sign a high-impact wide receiver. That may be a bit hard this year with the loss of a first round pick. They have Devin Hester, but adding another good deep threat could really improve this team and give Culter the weapons that he needs to work with.
If you were wondering how the Culter trade affected the Broncos’ odds to win the Super Bowl, it didn’t make them any better or worse at all which is BS. They were 30/1 odds at the end of Super Bowl 43, and they are listed at 30/1 odds today. Of course, these odds are largely based on the action being bet on all teams to win the Super Bowl. The Bears odds jumped so fast, because people were betting on them with the addition of Culter. The Broncos odds didn’t move because no one was betting them. Instead fewer people will be on them in the future and their Super Bowl odds will slowly adjust over time to be greater than 30/1. Or least they should.
