The Super Bowl is only 2 months away…

I’m really not sure how it snuck up this fast on me this year. Looking through this site, I think I’ve only written about 7 posts all football season! Geez, I must be having too much fun watching all the games. Anyway, the summer was slow, so I wrote a lot more then…

So I just did a quick search for this site on google and it’s still no where to be seen. Someone at that search engine must have it out for this site! I’m currently still numero uno at MSN and Yahoo for – Bet the Super Bowl – which is where I need to be. If only google would come back on board, I’d be happy. Anyway, I still have 2 month until the Big Game, so plenty of time to still optimize this site. I plan on working on this site for at least an hour a day until the Super Bowl. That’ll be some work!

The Super Bowl this year is in Tampa Bay, Florida. That’ll be a nice trip for 2 lucky teams. It looks like the locals are calling it Super Tampa for the Super Bowl. This game will be played at Raymond James Stadium, and it’s the second time that this stadium will host the Super Bowl. I bet you didn’t know that!

I’d personally like to see a Subway Series Super Bowl. The New York Giants vs the New York Jets. Of course, it wouldn’t really be a Subway Series because the game wouldn’t be played in New York. Also, both these teams play at Giants Stadium which is in New Jersey. The Yankees/Mets Subway Series actually work because both teams play in New York City, in different stadiums, and you can take the subway all the way from 1 stadium to the other… Yeah, I don’t think that a Super Bowl Subway Series would be the same…

Thanks for stopping by again. Please continue to read – Bet the NFL Super Bowl!

Plaxico Burress = dumb ass

What an idiot this guy is! He goes from catching the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl to possibly going to jail in NYC for years after shooting himself in the leg! What a freaking moron. God I wish I had half his money. I’d let him shoot me in the leg!

Anyway, I have Plax on a fantasy football team in Yahoo!. I just got this roster alert - ”Plaxico Burress has been dropped by 35118 teams in Yahoo! leagues”.  Hahaha… over 35,000 people have dropped his ass. And I’m sure the number will grow as we get closer to the weekend.

Anyway, it’s playoff time in fantasy football leagues. The next 3 weeks are the ones that are most important to Fantasy coaches with good teams. Typically the season ends with the fantasy Super Bowl on NFL’s week 16. This way fantasy teams aren’t hurt when NFL teams who have already made the playoffs decide to rest their stars so that they don’t get hurt before the real, NFL playoffs.

I’ve been playing fantasy football for years. I got burnt in a league 5 plus years ago when our Super Bowl was in week 17 of the NFL regular season week. My star running back was rested, and I ended up losing my fantasy Super Bowl because of it. It was so long ago, that I don’t remember who it even was anymore. I just remember that it happened.

Anyway, it had been a while since I wrote anything, and I wanted to let the world know that this site is still alive and kicking!

Thanks for stopping by “Bet the NFL Super Bowl”. Be sure to come by during the playoffs for updated Super Bowl bets and odds :O)

Updated NFL Super Bowl odds and week 6 betting thoughts

Wow, it’s already week 6 of the NFL. The Super Bowl is getting closer and closer… There are 11 more weeks of the regular season that will determine which teams make it to the playoffs. Then their are weeks of the playoffs which determine the best team for the NFC and the best team for the AFC. Then these two teams meet in the biggest, most watch sporting event of the year, and the winner is NFL champion, aka Super Bowl winner.

You can bet on who will win the Super Bowl now. Surprisingly (to me at least) the Dallas Cowboys are still the favorite to win it all at 5-1 odds. The New York Giants and the Tennessee Titans are tide for second favorite at 8-1 odds. After these two, the Washington Redskins, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the San Diego Chargers and the Indianapolis Colts are all listed as 12-1 odds. All odds are from Bodog.

Interestingly, 3 teams from the NFC East on among the top teams to win the Super Bowl. The only one not listed above is the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Eagles are a good squad. The NFC East is a powerhouse this year, and it’s too bad that the whole division won’t get a shot at the playoffs.

Weekly betting: The New York Jets look great this week. They are coming off of a bye, Cincy’s QB is out, and they have Brett Favre throwing to some great wide receivers. If you are looking for a good bet this week, check them out.

It’s the economy stupid… and week 6 in the NFL

Well, this economy looks screwed. The US government is actually going to start buying bank stocks for the first time since the Great Depression. What does that tell you? It tells me that the government is buying low to sell high.

It’s actually not a bad move as long as the companies that they are investing in don’t go bankrupt… Of course they won’t go bankrupt because the more money the company needs the more stock the government will buy. Then eventually the financial companies stock prices will right themselves, their stocks will increase, and the US government will sell them for profits.

That’s in a prefect world, but honestly, could it happen any other way? Not unless the whole financial model explodes. Stocks will eventually go up again and the government can wait 10 years to sell the stocks that they are buying today at at least 50% less than these stocks were a year ago. Not to bad federal government. Can I interest you in a Super Bowl Bet too?

In fact, I’ve been buying stock this whole week. Not a ton, but I just keep buying more every time the market goes down. So yes, I’ve been buying stock everyday. Am I worried that I’m going to lose all my money? Hell no. I’m not selling this stock for years and years, and just like the government, I can hold this stock until it’s profitable again.

Anyway, this was my ramble about the economy… Now back to football…

My NFL Sports Betting week 6 bets:

Indianapolis Colts -4 - Indy isn’t the team that it’s been in the past, but I think that they should win this one at home.

Cleveland Browns +8 – On Monday night, I expect the Browns to cover against last year’s Super Bowl Champs… am I crazy?

Dallas Cowboys -5½ – they were early season favorites to win the super bowl for good reasons. they are a good team and will show it this weekend.

New England Patriots +5 – no Super Bowl for this team this year, but I think that they could cover and maybe even win this week.

That’s it. Book the Picks and remember us for all you Super Bowl Sports Betting information.

This Super Bowl site needs a bump

Okay, I just googled “Bet the NFL Super Bowl”, and this site was no where to be seen. Yet it is great in yahoo and MSN… I’m not sure what the hell happened to my google ranking, but I assume that the site was hit with some new kind of google filter. I hate that. This is is named Bet the NFL Super Bowl and the damn URL is the same. I don’t know, but if you ask me, it should be the first hit in all searches.

Anyway, it’s week 6 in the NFL already and things are very interesting. The Cowboys look really good, but so do the Washington Redskins, the New York Giants, and the Philadelphia Eagles. The whole NFC East looks awesome this year. Who would have thought that the Skins would be this good? No one. And the Giants, last year’s Super Bowl winners, where underrated by everyone this year, but they have been kicking ass since their first game this season.

The Bills have come out of no where and are now 4-1…

The San Diego Charges also suck now. I mean they lost to the Miami Dolphins last week, yet some how they are favored by 5 over the New England Patriots this week. I’m not sure how they are favored by this much, maybe because they are at home and Tom Brady is out of the year, but I doubt that the Charges will win this game by more than 5 if at all.

Fantasy teams have taken huge hits this year with Tom Brady going down in week 1. One year I lost my 1st round draft pick early in the season, and I have to tell you, it kills your team. Of course, drafting a Quarterback in the first round is a dumb move that you kill your team anyway. The best is to take Running Backs in the first 2 rounds. They are too rare to wait to take. Good QBs can be picked up in the later rounds. Good running back can’t.

Well this stream of consciousness has run a few paragraphs, and I’m getting tired, so I’ll probably be leaving soon. Anyway, I hope that you continue to visit this site and remember us when you want to bet the Super Bowl. Thanks!

The NFL football season starts this week!

I love this time of year, football is in the air! And I have some great news about this site. It’s once again the first hit in google for the phrase Bet the NFL Super Bowl. Unfortunately, I’m still not of the front page for the phrase Bet the Super Bowl, but I hope to be there by January.

So sports bettors, any idea what online sports book you are going to use this year of the NFL season? If you are looking for more options, I have to suggest BoDog. They are offering all kinds of bets that you can’t find at other online books.
You can bet on whether or not any team is going to make the playoffs, how many wins tey will end the season with, how many home or any games they will win this season, and of course who you think will win the Super Bowl. They are also offering a ton of prop bets on individual players. Trust me, give them a look. (They are also offering live betting on a ton of NFL regular season games this year).

Anyway, I just wanted to drop a note to share the good news about this site’s ranking. Thanks for come by and reading. I hope that your remember me come Super Bowl time. Please feel free to bookmark me if you want.

Drafting for a Fantasy Football Keeper League

Now you can find player ranks just about anywhere. From Yahoo, to ESPN, to Sportsline, to the NFL, everyone seems to have their top 100 players to draft list out already. Those list will change over the next couple of months with training camps just opening up over the last week… but even now, there is a serious shortage of keeper draft lists out there.

I used to buy fantasy football magazines every year, and they were always out dated by training camp… they also never had good keeper draft lists or strategies, and I pretty much gave up on them. Now everyone has a list, but still good keep draft lists are very hard to find. Unless you what to pay for one or make your own, you are kinda out of luck.

And don’t think that you can use a regular fantasy football cheat sheet to draft for a keeper leagues.. I mean, I guess you can, but you’ll be at a big disadvantage, kinda like using a standard cheat sheet for a league that changes the whole scoring structure.

Anyway, the most notable change in keeper leagues happens with the first draft pick. Ladainian Tomlinson is the number one pick on everyone re-draft league board this year, but he shouldn’t be number 1 for a keeper. LT is 29 years old, and if you have the number pick in this years draft, you want a guy who could put up big numbers from at least 3 years… and that is why you should take  Adrian Peterson, who is only 23. Sure he isn’t as proven as LT, but he could make a huge impact on your team not only this year, but in 2009, 2010, etc as well. Running backs hit a wall at 30, so LT is probably the best guy for this year, but not for the future…

BTW, if you can trade LT for Peterson now, I would do it.

Football trades and Anonymous

So I finally got that Imus quote off the front page. This site has to rank better soon because of this. I figure it was stuck in a Google dup. content filter.

Aside form that, Jeremy Shockey was traded! Good riddance, you silly pain in the ass. I hope you go to New Orleans and wine as much there as you did in New York… even when your team was winning the Super Bowl. You suck.

Jason Taylor was also traded by Miami to the Washington Redskins yesterday. It’s a good trade for the Skins, but Miami is going to miss this guy. the Dolphins suck year after year, and I know Taylor wasn’t happy there, but trading for a few draft picks isn’t helping your cause. You need help and fans this year… I mean, you’ve been rebuilding for about 10 years now.

So I just learned about the fight between Anonymous and Scientology, and I think it’s hilarious. There are some funny pictures and descriptions about some of the protests across the World, and I have to admit some of the stuff they did in London made me laugh out loud. See picture below…

I must be really behind the times, because this things seems (seemed?) big, and I’m just learning of it now. Not like I would join in, but I think of myself as relatively internet savvy… I have a damn blog!… and I had no idea that this was happening… anyway, I kinda hope that this fight continues because it’s funny. I really don’t think that an unorganized group of internet nerds can keep this going for very long though. But hey, you never know.

Fantasy football league website reviews

Yahoo – One of the the best pay fantasy football league options. Their free leagues are good too, but you can’t customize certain things in the free leagues. One of the big differences is the inability to change the waiver wire options which aren’t very good in the free format. In the free leagues, players can be added off the wire all day Sunday including during games. This enables someone who is sitting home watching the Giants (or any other team) see if someone gets injured, let’s say the starting running back. That person can go and grab the backup off the free agency list immediately (regardless of the wavier wire order), giving them a nice advantage over everyone else in the league. Most people don’t like this option, because they don’t want to spend every Sunday with their computer to be competitive. In my opinion, this is the best pay out there.

Fleaflicker – Probably the best free fantasy football website. This site only does fantasy football, and offers great options like Yahoo. It’s also free because they make their money from paid advertising on the site. They also offer a free tour, so check out the website if your interested.

Sportsline – Not my favorite. Sportsline has great fantasy write ups for each player, that are constantly updated. This is great for tracking player information, and good for fantasy advice when you are setting your line up. Sportsline doesn’t really have any problems, but it just isn’t as user friendly as yahoo. Sportsline fantasy football leagues also don’t track results year to year, which is kind of stupid.

ESPN – Decent fantasy football leagues, but not as good as the three sites listed above.

NFL – Decent fantasy football leagues, but probably the worst site listed on this page.

Now there are a lot of other sites that offer fantasy football leagues both for a cost and for free, but the 5 listed above are probably the most not worthy. I’ve played leagues in all 5 over the years, and I have to say the you can’t really go wrong with any of them, but Yahoo and Fleaflicker are probably the best.
