Bet the NFL Super Bowl 2011 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas

I think my favorite Super Bowl prop bet is who will be the Super Bowl MVP. It seems like every year about 40 guys are listed for this prop bet, and only an about a dozen have a real shot at it. Of course the quarterbacks, wide receivers, and running backs are the favorites, and they should be. For the last 2 years a quarterback has won the Super Bowl MVP. The year that Hines Ward won it, it almost seemed like he won it by default because Ben Roethlisberger didn’t play well enough to win it!

There are a lot of other props that you can bet for the Super Bowl. Every year BoDog (an online sports book) seems to come out with about 200 different props that you can bet. Whether Kurt Warner will throw over/under 254 yards, how many interceptions he will throw, how many touchdowns he will throw, his number of completions, his number of rushing yards, the number of times he is sacked etc. The list goes on and on. And this isn’t just for the quarterbacks, it could be guys like Brian Westbrook too: Westbrook will have over/under X rushing yards, over/under X amount of receptions, X number of reception yards, X number of touchdowns, etc.

Some of the most amusing prop bets will be on the Super Bowl commercials. I haven’t heard of any of them yet for this year, but there is at least 1 every year, so watch out for it!

All the standard NFL prop bets will be available too. A standard prop bet would be: Which team scores first? Which team scores last? Is the first score a touchdown or a field goal? Who win the coin toss? Will there be a kick off return for a touchdown? How many interceptions will there be? And on and on and on.

See? There really are a ton of things that you can bet on this Super Bowl. And it’s like this every year. Probably because it is the most bet (and watched) game in the world.

I have to say that I love all the prop bets that are offered. On one game, you can bet at least 200 different things and have almost something new going on every single play.

BoDog and a few other online sports books are also offering live Super Bowl betting. This means that you can bet Super Bowl online with an adjusted spread and total after every single play. Yes, live betting is great has to be offered for the biggest year of the year. If you sports book doesn’t offer live betting, give one that does a try. You might find that you love it.

What a great playoff weekend, and now there are only 4 teams that could win the 2009 Super Bowl: Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Personally I would like to see the Cardinals in the Super Bowl. I’ve been a fan of Kurt Warner for years, and I’d be great to see him win another ring. I’m also a fan of Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. It seems like I always have at least one of these 2 guys on a fantasy team or two.

I was surprised how much the Cards ran the ball this weekend. Zona running backs Tim Hightower and Edgerrin James combined for 37 rushes. Of course a lot of these were after Arizona had a good lead, but that number is still huge for the Cardinals.

The Eagles would be interesting too. Philadelphia hadn’t won a championship in years in any sport until the Phillies won the World Series this year, and now the Eagles have a 4-1 chance of winning the Super Bowl. Philadelphia Eagles stars Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook are always fun to watch along with DeSean Jackson and Kevin Curtis. L J Smith is their starting tight end and while he’s getting up in age, he can still have a great game here and there.

The Baltimore Ravens would be fun to watch to. They rookie quarterback Joe Flacco looked great this weekend, and Matt Stover (the kicker) had a good game too. Their offense really did look good. They didn’t turn the ball over, and veteran receive Derek Mason had 78 yards and a TD. Willis McGahee and Le’Ron McClain split carries with both of them getting 12. Of course, defense is the strength of this team, and they performed great.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are America’s second most followed team after the Cowboys. They also won the Super Bowl just a few years ago, so I’d rather give someone else the chance at the title. Anyway, Big Ben Roethlisberger is a great QB. It also looks like Fast Willie Parker is fully heathly from his problems earlier in the year. Hines Ward is of course a stud, and he was the Super Bowl MVP the last time that the Steelers won it. Heath Miller has been their awesome tight end for years, and Santonio Holmes has developed into a great wide out. Hopefully he’ll stay out of the trouble this offseason.

Whichever two of these teams go to the Super Bowl, it should be a great game. I would love to watch any of the above play in the big game. Of course, I will be betting on this game. After all you can’t write a blog titled “Bet the NFL Super Bowl”, tell people how to bet on the super bowl, and not bet on the Super Bowl yourself. Trust me, I’ll have some good action on this game.

Time to take a quick run through of the NFL teams left in the playoffs. Two of these teams will be playing in the 2009 Super Bowl in Tampa Bay, Florida.

New York Giants – The Giants play out of the Meadowlands in New Jersey, and they won the Super Bowl last year. They are headed by Eli Manning at quarterback and they’re strength is at running back with Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward and even Ahmad Bradshaw. They’re best receivers are Domenik Hixon and Amani Toomer.

Pittsburgh Steelers – Ben Roethlisberger is their quarterback with his main targets being Hines Ward, Santonio Holmes and Heath Miller at tight end. Their starting running back is Fast Willie Parker.

Carolina Panthers – Jack Delhomme is under center with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart running out of the back field. Steve Smith is their star wide receiver and Muhsin Muhammad is their #2.

Tennessee Titans – the Titans defense is the strength of their team. On offense, Kerry Collins is at QB, their main running backs are LenDale White and Chris Johnson, and their starting wide receivers are Justin Gage and Justin McCareins.

Baltimore Ravens – The Ravens are headed by rookie quarterback Joe Flacco. Their 3 headed running back beast consists or Willis McGahee, Le’Ron McClain, and rookie Ray Rice out of Rutgers University. Their starting WRs are Derrick Mason and Mark Clayton.

Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles have a few stars starting with their quarterback Donovan McNabb. Their fantasy football stud Brian Westbrook is their main running back, and their starting receivers are DeSean Jackson and Kevin Curtis, both who seem to put up a lot of yards.

San Diego Chargers – Philip Rivers is under center with two great running back behind him, LaDainian Tomlinson and Darren Sproles. His TE is Antonio Gates and Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson are the starting wide receivers.

Arizona Cardinals – Arizona was a fantasy football dream this year with one of the best quarterbacks and two great wide receivers in Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. Their running struggled at times with Tim Hightower and Edgerrin James getting the majority of the work. Their 3rd wide out Steve Breaston was also utilized a lot this year.

There will be some interesting prop bets offered on most of if not all these guys this week and every week until the NFL Super Bowl. If you love betting fantasy football, you will probably also love betting on props. Betting on the NFL is what makes watching football fun. Betting on the Super Bowl also makes it more fun.

You can make all kinds of bets. You can bet on which team will win the game. This is called the money line bet. If the Super Bowl line is listed as Team A -200, Team B +180, that means that you have to bet $200 on Team A to win $100 if the Team a wins, and that you will win $180 if you bet $100 on Team B and Team B wins.

The spread bet is where lines makers create a spread that sports books use to make football games closer to even odds. So if the New York Giants are favored by 7 over the Arizona Cardinals, the spread would be New York -7 or Arizona +7. In this situation if you bet on the Giants, you are betting that the Giants are betting the Cards by more that 7. So if New York wins by 8 or more, you win. If they win buy six or less or lose, you lose. If New York wins be exactly 7, the bet is a push, you neither win or lose and you get the money of original bet back.

Total Super Bowl bets are great wagering options too. A total bet is one where you add together the final scores of both teams and this comes to a total score for the game. So lets say the total for the Super Bowl is 55. Bettors have the options on the total to bet that the total scores of both teams will be more than or less than 55. If you bet the over, and the final score is 56 or higher, you win, 54 or lower, you lose, 55, you push.

These are the basic types of bets that you can make on all NFL football games, but the Super Bowl enables to to make these basic bets and so many more. Since the Super Bowl is the most bet game in all of sports, sports books offer hundreds of bets that you can make of this game. There are tons of prop bets that you can make on the Big Game. You can bet on which team will win the Super Bowl and my how many points, which team will score first, who will score last, who will be the Super Bowl MVP, who will have the first rushing touchdown, and the list goes on and on…

The Sports books make a killing during the NFL season. Sure they make some money on baseball, basketball, horse racing, hockey, boxing, etc. But the real money is in people betting the NFL. It’s weeks of action for these sportsbooks, topped off with the mother of all weekends, the NFL Super Bowl. I think this weekend is the 2nd most sports bet weekends in Vegas with only 1 game. The first most sports betting weekend in Vegas is the first weekend of March Madness with 32 different games to bet on… It’s easy to tell that the most bet game in sports, year after year, is the NFL Super Bowl.

People often ask me how to bet on the super bowl. Well, it’s really easy in Las Vegas. All you really have to do is walk into almost any casino (or literally any casino on the strip) and look for their sports book. Right now, you can bet future bets on who will play in the Super Bowl and who will win the Super Bowl. The different odds for these bets are determined by who people think have a good shot at going to and winning the Super Bowl today. So these odds will change drastically after next weekend’s NFL games because half the teams will be eliminated.

Once the 2 Super Bowl teams are decided, there are a lot of different ways to bet on the Super Bowl. This is when the Super Bowl odds are determined for both the spread and the over/under (total) bet for the game. There are also a ton of prop bets offered on the Super Bowl, and these bets are created after the AFC and NFC Championship games too.

Super Bowl prop bets often range from which quarterback will throw the most yards to whether or not a particular running back or wide receive will score. Notice that Detroit and other teams that are eliminated from the playoffs are no longer listed? Also notice that teams that have a very long long road to the NFL playoffs also have very long odds to win the Super Bowl? You can get 5,000 – 1 to bet the Houston Texans to win the Super Bowl. So if you bet $500 on Houston, and they won, you would win $2,500,000.  That is how much of a long shot they are. I think to even make the NFL playoffs, they have to win out the rest of the season, and several other teams will need to lost the rest of their games. Then of course, the Texans would have to win all of their playoffs games, and then the Super Bowl against much better teams the whole way. Anyway, it’s near impossible and if you were to bet it, you might as well kiss that $500 goodbye.

So those are the update odds for now. If you are interested in betting any of these Super Bowl Props, you probably have until Thursday night’s game before the odds change again. These NFL Super Bowl odds are the bets offered at one sports book, but almost all sports books are currently offering Super Bowl futures, and odds may vary depending on what book you play with.

So much for having the best fantasy football team ever. My team was projected to score a ton of points this week, and it turns out that I’m lucky that I even won. By no means did I turn in a bad performance, but it was far from a great one too. Here is how the scoring broke down…

Quarterback – Kurt Warner – 279 passing yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. No a terrible day, but far from his 3 TD games. Against Saint Louis, he really could have done a lot more.

Running Back – Michael Turner – 61 yards and 1 TD. Again not the worse (thanks to him scoring), but Turner could have had a much better day.

Running Back – Joseph Addai – uhhh. He got a combine 40 all purpose yards. And to think I traded Thomas Jones for this guy. He is also now injured and could end up splitting time with Dominick Rhodes for the rest of the season. I hope that this isn’t the mistake that costs me the league Super Bowl…

Wide Receiver – Anquan Boldin – 62 yards and no score. Another off week for my fantasy stars.

Wide Receiver – Lee Evans – Benched in favor of Wes Welker which was a good call because Evans only had 23 yards all day. I’m glad I did listen to the people who were projecting a big day for Evans.

Wide Receiver – Wes Welker – Welker is a fantasy stud disguised as a #2 receiver… He had 134 yards yesterday and an extra point conversion. If only he got more TDs he would be a monster.

Tight End – Zach Miller – 64 total yards. Not too bad from the TE position.

Flex RB/WR/TE – Steven Jackson – 64 rushing yards. 1 TD. 2 Fumbles! It looks like S-Jax still isn’t 100%, but he does go against Seattle next week. I think I have to keep starting him (especially with Addai playing so poorly).

Kicker – Robbie Gould – I dropped him to start Jeff Reed, which was stupid. Reed got me only 3 extra points. I should have stayed with Gould who had a good day.

Defense – Miami Dolphins – 4 sacks, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery, and they only gave up 3 points to Buffalo. This was a good day for the Dolphins D.

Some of my bench player also performed really well. Pierre Thomas had over 100 yards rushing and 2 TDs. LeRon McClain had a decent day too with about 60 yards and a TD. More importantly for McClain, he got 20 carries which pretty much shows him as the primary running back in Baltimore after all 3 of their running backs have been sharing carries over the season. I’ll bet that I need some of these guys for my fantasy playoffs and the Super Bowl.

My tight end John Carlson also had a good day, and Cadillac Williams goes tonight. I have Jerious Norwood to back up Turner if he goes down, but I doubt I’ll need him. I might even drop him for someone else if the opportunity arises.

This week is the start of my playoffs in this league, and then the Super Bowl is next week already. I often do side bets in this league with my friends, so while we do have a buy in and payouts for the leagues winners, we often have more action on heads up matches. I might even make odds on the league Super Bowl this year and take bets. This way people in my league can bet on the Super Bowl even if their teams are already out of it. This could make it more fun.

Quarterback – Kurt Warner – I traded for him around week 2 (I got him and Thomas Jones for Earnest Graham, great trade in hindsight). Warner had been incredible all year and in listed as a top QB play every week. He is the second highest scoring QB in my league.

Running Back – Michael Turner – Drafted in the 2nd round, Turner is the second highest scoring running back after Thomas Jones. He has been solid all year,

Running Back – Joseph Addai – Addai was injured earlier in the year. I traded for this 1st round RB 2 weeks ago. I gave Thomas Jones and Ricky Williams for Addai and Wes Welker.

Wide Receiver – Anquan Boldin – Even after missing a few weeks this year due to injury, Boldin is still the highest scoring fantasy wide receiver. I took him in the 4th round on my draft and it’s paid odd nicely. On the year, Boldin’s been targeted 111 times and has 942 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Wide Receiver – Lee Evans – Evans rotates with Wes Welker as my number 2 wide receiver. Evans can be very streaky and very frustrating at times because of this. I expect him to finish out the year strong, but I will probably start Welker more because he is more reliable.

Tight End – Zach Miller – I just picked up Miller. He is Oaklands leading receiver and he is palying San Diego this week. San Diego has giving up more points to fantasy TEs this year than any other team in the league.

Flex RB/WR/TE – Steven Jackson – My number 1 draft pick has now been moved to my flex after this year’s injury and streakiness. S-Jax isn’t worth a #1 pick going forward, but he is still a great guy to have as a flex.

Kicker – Robbie Gould – Kickers are kickers. I add and drop them on a weekly basis.

Defense – Miami Dolphins – They are better than a middle of the road defense able to get sacks and create turnovers. Most importantly, their remaining schedule is at Buffalo, vs San Fransico, and at Kansas City.

I think I probably have more talent than 99% of teams in 12 team leagues at this point. It should be interesting to see how my playoffs and fantasy super bowl work out. I do have 4 incredibly unlucky loses on the year, so I’m currently in 2nd place in my league. I think I should win it all though.

I’m really not sure how it snuck up this fast on me this year. Looking through this site, I think I’ve only written about 7 posts all football season! Geez, I must be having too much fun watching all the games. Anyway, the summer was slow, so I wrote a lot more then…

So I just did a quick search for this site on google and it’s still no where to be seen. Someone at that search engine must have it out for this site! I’m currently still numero uno at MSN and Yahoo for – Bet the Super Bowl – which is where I need to be. If only google would come back on board, I’d be happy. Anyway, I still have 2 month until the Big Game, so plenty of time to still optimize this site. I plan on working on this site for at least an hour a day until the Super Bowl. That’ll be some work!

The Super Bowl this year is in Tampa Bay, Florida. That’ll be a nice trip for 2 lucky teams. It looks like the locals are calling it Super Tampa for the Super Bowl. This game will be played at Raymond James Stadium, and it’s the second time that this stadium will host the Super Bowl. I bet you didn’t know that!

I’d personally like to see a Subway Series Super Bowl. The New York Giants vs the New York Jets. Of course, it wouldn’t really be a Subway Series because the game wouldn’t be played in New York. Also, both these teams play at Giants Stadium which is in New Jersey. The Yankees/Mets Subway Series actually work because both teams play in New York City, in different stadiums, and you can take the subway all the way from 1 stadium to the other… Yeah, I don’t think that a Super Bowl Subway Series would be the same…

What an idiot this guy is! He goes from catching the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl to possibly going to jail in NYC for years after shooting himself in the leg! What a freaking moron. God I wish I had half his money. I’d let him shoot me in the leg!

Anyway, I have Plax on a fantasy football team in Yahoo!. I just got this roster alert - ”Plaxico Burress has been dropped by 35118 teams in Yahoo! leagues”.  Hahaha… over 35,000 people have dropped his ass. And I’m sure the number will grow as we get closer to the weekend.

Anyway, it’s playoff time in fantasy football leagues. The next 3 weeks are the ones that are most important to Fantasy coaches with good teams. Typically the season ends with the fantasy Super Bowl on NFL’s week 16. This way fantasy teams aren’t hurt when NFL teams who have already made the playoffs decide to rest their stars so that they don’t get hurt before the real, NFL playoffs.

I’ve been playing fantasy football for years. I got burnt in a league 5 plus years ago when our Super Bowl was in week 17 of the NFL regular season week. My star running back was rested, and I ended up losing my fantasy Super Bowl because of it. It was so long ago, that I don’t remember who it even was anymore. I just remember that it happened.

Anyway, it had been a while since I wrote anything, and I wanted to let the world know that this site is still alive and kicking!
