Bet the NFL Super Bowl – New England Patriots vs New York Giants

People seem to think so. In fact, Scout.com picked the Dallas Cowboys to win the Super Bowl a week ago, and now that I’ve had a few beers, I’m thinking about betting them to win the Super Bowl.

Getting Pacman is a great move for them, if they can control him. But the Cowboys have a record of stealing thug talent and making them work. If any team could take a guy who makes it rain a half hour before having a bouncer shot… and then turn that same guy into a Pro-Bowler, the Dallas Cowboys can.

Aside from that, the New England Patriots might be busted for spying on the Rams practice before the Super Bowl in 2002. I have to say that I didn’t bet a side in that Super Bowl, but I did bet the over… and I lost. Even though I didn’t bet the Pats, them spying on the Rams offense could be reason enough for them to lose the over, and me to lose my Super Bowl bet, so I hope that they cheated. Beside I hate the Patriots… They cost me money this year vs the Giants. And who, who doesn’t live in Boston, hates Tom Brady? F that guy.

Supposedly that guy who has evidence that the Pats cheated that year has agreed to talk to the NFL. He should be in New York within the next few weeks.

Go you Rat! Screw that team that got you a Super Bowl ring…

That is unless you’re the Patriots, who lost their first round draft pick this year for cheating.

The Miami Dolphins have already taken Jake Long, and now the St. Louis Rams are on the clock. This sucks for the Rams, who really wanted Jake Long. The remaining top draft picks might be Matt Ryan, Glenn Dorsey, Chris Long or Vernon Gholston. But people now expect the Rams to try to trade down with a team interested in Matt Ryan, possibly the Baltimore Ravens, who would be stealing him from the Atlanta Falcons.

Matt Ryan has been hyped a lot this year, and he very well could be a quarterback that could lead a team to the playoffs and Super Bowl, but it’s pretty early to bet on it. Rookie QBs often take sometime to adjust to the NFL, and grow with their team. Both Eli and Payton Manning have won the Super Bowl, but they weren’t even close to the Big Game in their first few years in the league. Betting on Rookie QBs to lead teams to victory are very risky. Not every team has a Tom Brady to win them the Super Bowl, and most young quarterbacks aren’t surrounded by as much talent as he was.

I like to bet on the Super Bowl. Betting the Big Game is a lot of fun, and betting the Super Bowl winner during the preseason is a great way to start. Teams that I don’t think have a shot at winning the Super Bowl this year have to be any team with a Rookie QB. Them and the Bears, but that’s another story.

Did the 1918 Cubs throw the 1918 World Series vs the Boston Red Sox? It might have happened.

We all know about the 1919 White Sox (aka Black Sox) threw the World Series for some good cash. Now it’s coming out that this wasn’t the first team to throw the series. It sounds like the Black Sox got the idea from the Cubs the year before.. 

“The Cubs were 84-45 that year and serious favorites. Cicotte is not alone in suggesting they had been paid off. The lost diary of Charles Comiskey’s righthand man, Harry Grabiner, supposedly indicates that the 1918 World Series was fixed. The reporting of baseball columnist Hugh Fullerton — the man who eventually blew the whistle on baseball’s gambling problem — also suggested that something was afoul in 1918. Fullerton’s accounts of those games repeatedly point out bizarre baserunning mistakes and defensive flubs.” (like the Cubs getting picked off 3 times in the series).

Very interesting… It’s a cool story, if true. But I hate Boston and hate the fact that they might have gotten an extra championship thanks to some sports bettors. Also the Cubs have never won a championship… Those 2 years seemed to screw Chicago out of 2 championships. But it’s great for the legends the Chicago mob, gamblers, bookies, sports betting in baseball, and sports betting in general.

It looks like people are writing off the Bears for a NFL Super Bowl run this year… thanks to Brian Urlacher. Apparently, Urlacher asking for more money has prompted a couple of his teammates (Devin Hester and Tommie Harris) to do the same. If the Bears give in, they’ll have less cash for signing new talent. If they don’t (and they probably won’t), it could mean for a disgruntled locker room. Advice: don’t bet the Bears to win the 2009 Super Bowl if you like your money. I’m in Las Vegas next weekend, and I’ll be looking for ways to bet against the Bears.

Brian Urlacher might retire because he doesnt like his contract, and if he retires he gets paid all this 2003 bonuses money… Oh and he says that his neck and back hurt… sounds like a lot of BS to me.

Not much in Super Bowl news - A bar is Akron might lose it’s license over a Super Bowl Box Pool that got up to $60,000. 100 squares at $600 a pop. Not a bad pool.

I’m outta town all weekend, but plan on giving an update on the odds of winning the Super Bowl and good places to bet on the Super Bowl when I’m back.

That’s right. You heard it here first. Hell, they won’t even make the playoffs… One step further, and I say that they won’t even be at 500. And those are facts. Write them down. Bookmark this page. Bet on it. Do whatever because I don’t care. That is how confident I am in saying that the Rams will suck next year.

How do I know this? Just look at the start of the Saint Louis Ram’s 2008 season schedule.

Game 1 vs Philly. I’m betting the Eagles.

Game 2 vs NYG. I’m betting the Giants.

Game 3 vs Seattle. I’m betting the Seahawks.

Game 4 vs Buffalo. I’m betting the young and hard hitting Bills.

Game 5 vs Washington. I’m betting the Redskins.

Game 6 vs Dallas. People are already picking and betting the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl. Yeah, a friend of mine bet them yesterday to win Super Bowl XLIII.

And finally, Game 7 vs New England. Ouch. The Patriots are one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl almost every year. They’re a great team that should win this game easily.

Sorry St. Louis. It’s still months until the season even starts, but you have no chance in 2008. I would use this year and draft as a rebuilding year. Trade down picks and pick up more for 2009 if you can, because you have no shot at the Super Bowl this year.

Brian Uslacher is still holding out, and the Chicago Bears don’t look likely budge… at least not yet. The 2 sides are talking over the contact problem, but Urlacher is under contract, and the Bears really don’t have to offer him anything more then they already are. Personally I hate player holdouts like this. I reminds of the whole T.O. drama years ago.

It sounds like the Dallas Cowboys are still interest in the Pacman and all this problems, but smartly aren’t willing to give up very much for the guy. On the other side of the coin, the Tennessee Titans have made it pretty well known that he is for sale, and at this point, they kind of have to move the guy. The Cowboys have upped their current bid to a fourth round draft pick, but the Titans are still asking for more for a guy that might not even be allowed to play in the NFL this year, and could very well be banded for life on any given night in Vegas…

Of course the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts are favored to win the next Super Bowl. I wrote the other day how someone has already picked Dallas to win the Big Game in 2009. Personally, I think it’s too early to bet the Super Bowl, but some gamblers do. People think that the Baltimore Ravens will draft another quarterback in this years’ draft. The Ravens took Troy Smith (a quarterback) last year with their 5th round pick, but now they are meeting with college quarterbacks again and might draft 1 in the 1st or 2nd round. That’s bad news Troy Smith, but good news for the QBs in this draft. If Matt Ryan drops to them in with their 8th overall pick, they will probably take them. If they don’t get Ryan, and they probably won’t, they’ll have to wait until the 2nd round to pick up a QB, and who knows who may or may not still be available then.

The Super Bowl Champs New York Giants Center, Shaun O’Hara, is looking to replace NFL Players Association Executive Director Gene Upshaw. O’Hara is the Super Bowl Champs team representative in the players union and he’s opinion means a lot.

“I’ve been defending him for years, and he’s not helping us,” O’Hara said this week. O’Hara joins Matt Stover, the Baltimore Ravens representative is calling for fresh blood in the player’s union.

This morning Dolphin’s full back Reagan Mauia was arrested for pushing a guy in the face and “causing the victim to pass out and fall to the ground.” The Dolphins have yet to comment and probably won’t.

Scout.com has already picked the Dallas Cowboys to win Super Bowl XLIII. This predraft prediction includes the players that Scout thinks the Cowboys (and everyone else) will take in the this year’s draft. The current odds for the Cowboy’s to win the Super Bowl are 10/1. That could be a nice pay off if you are looking to bet the Super Bowl this early. Personally, I can’t take any team to win the Super Bowl until I atleast know who is on the team. And we won’t know this until after the NFL draft.

Well, it’s no surprise who the Dolphins are taking with their number 1 draft pick. The worst team in the NFL has already begun negotiations with the player that they intend to draft first. That’s right, offensive lineman Jake Long from the U of Michigan is their intended pick. He is currently the only player that they are talking to; making it pretty safe to say that he will go number 1. Virginia defensive end Chris Long was once also thought to be on Miami’s short list of #1 players, but it looks like he got pushed down the board.

NFL rules state that the team with the first NFL draft pick can start contract negotiations before the draft. This rule only applies to the team with the first pick. Overall, it is a good move to ensure that once drafted, the pick is signed right away and won’t hold out through training camp.

Other NFL news: The Houston Texans are holding the cheerleading tryouts this weekend. (Visit their website for more info), and Donovan McNabb wants to play for 7 more years… yeah, we’ll see.

Super Bowl news: Nothing much. Arizona is shoring up their room situation for Super Bowl 2012 bid. They have until April 23rd to get it all sorted out or else they probably won’t get the super bowl. They are competing with Indy and Houston. I would bet that Arizona doesn’t get it.

According to Yahoo, Joe Girardi is thinking about playing A-Rod at short stop if Jeter is seriously hurt. Jeter left yesterday’s game after the 3rd and didn’t play in their lose today to Kansas City. Betemit started for the Bombers at short today in place of the injured captain, but he is not a long term answer. A-Rod is probably the best player in baseball and as long as playing SS doesn’t hurt his batting, I think it’s a good and creative solution to big problem. The Yankees can play Ensberg, a nature 3rd baseman, at 3rd if Rodriguez shifts over. 

Brian Urlacher is still holding out for more money. The Bears said today that they are advising his people to take another look at his current contract because it is really good. It sounds like this is their first stab at not having to renegotiate.

Some nerd from Ball State predicts that if Indy gets to host the 2012 Super Bowl, the economically impact to the city would be $365 million. I’m not too sure how he came up with that number, if it takes inflation into account, or if he just looked at a calender. Anyway, I think he is trying to justify the $1.5M of taxpayer money that the city would have to spend in order to complete for the Super Bowl. I wonder he will will Bet the Super Bowl 2012?
