Arizona Cardinals 2/1
Washington Redskins 5/2
Miami Dolphins 3/1
New York Jets 7/2
Indianapolis Colts 7/1

“With Peyton Manning’s situation it has made setting next year’s Super Bowl Odds very difficult and a reason you will see teams like Arizona and Miami at lower odds than what they would be in case Manning signs there. As for the Colts, even though there is a slim chance he stays they are at 50-1 but if he does leave will shoot up to around 100-1 and if stays would drop down to around 15-1, just goes to show the importance of a guy like Peyton.” – Sportsbook Manager

Every year we get a lot of questions about how to bet on the Super Bowl and that’s what we’re going to teach you today. We’ll cover the different places you can bet on the game, and we’ll explain the different kinds of bets that are offered and how to bet them.

Where to bet the Super Bowl - There are several places and/or ways that you can bet on the Super Bowl. We list these options below.

Las Vegas – One of the best known ways to bet on football is by going toLas Vegas, and placing a bet with one of the many sportsbook there.Nevada is the only state inAmerica that allows you to walk up to a window and place a bet on any and every kind of sport. Most casinos in Vegas have a sportsbook inside their casino making it really easy to bet the big game. The only problem is that you have to be inLas Vegas to make these bets, because Vegas casinos currently do not accept bets online or over the phone.

Betting Online – Fifteen years ago there were just a handful of online sportsbooks, now there are literally hundreds. Some of these sportsbooks are great. Some of these sportsbooks are terrible. There is currently no single worldwide body that regulates online gambling, and because of that you really need to watch which online sportsbook you use. You want to choose one you can trust with a long history and good customer service.

For the last several years we’ve rated Bovada as the best online sportsbook, and we’ve ranked them #1 again this year. Bovada is a trusted online sportsbook that’s been around for over 16 years. They keep every customer deposit in a separate, secure bank account to ensure that your money is safe. They also have great customer service with an open and friendly staff, but most importantly they offer an incredible amount of bets on the NFL Super Bowl.

We’ve also compiled a list of the 7 best online sportsbooks to use to bet on the Super Bowl in 2012 (LINK). Bovada is our recommended sportsbook, but if you use another one please check out our list to see how we rank it. If your online sportsbook is not listed here, we don’t endorse it and don’t recommend betting with them. Your money is too important to trust with a sportsbook that’s not one of the best.

Bookies – You can find a local bookie in every city inAmerica. If you don’t have one, and want to find one, we recommend asking a bartender at your local sports bar. He can probably give you a phone number or even introduce you to one.

We don’t recommend betting with bookies. Bookies can be dangerous people who might resort to physical violence to collect on a debt. They’re often involved in not just book making, but in other kinds of criminal activities as well. The last thing you want is to win a huge bet on the Super Bowl, and have your bookie busted for drugs that next day and never get paid.

The only real upside of using a bookie is that they can have different lines fromLas Vegasand the online sportsbooks. Most bookies only take local bets, so a bookie inNew York will get hundreds of bets on the Giants and not a lot on the Patriots. In order to balance this out, the bookie will often change the odds that he offers to entice more people to bet on the Pats. So if the national line on the game is the Patriots -3, a local bookie in New York might make his line the Patriots -2. Therefore if you live inNew Yorkand want to bet on the Patriots, it might make sense to use a local bookie in order to get better odds.

How to bet the Super Bowl – There are a lot of different kinds of bets offered on the Super Bowl. We are going to go through each different kind below and explain how to bet them.

The Spread Bet – The current spread on the Super Bowl is the New England Patriots -3 vs the New York Giants. This means that if you bet onNew England with the spread and they win by 3 points you win, but if the Patriots lose by 3 points, you lose. If you bet onNew York with the spread and the Giants either win the game or lose the game by less than 3 points, you win, and if the Giants lose the game by more than 3 points, you lose. Lastly if the game ends by exactly 3 points, the bet would be a push and you would get your money back.

The benefit on betting on the spread is that it’s close to a even money bet.Las Vegascreates the spread in order to offer a bet were you can get close to 50/50 odds on your money. The exact odds on the spread bet are -110. This means that you have to bet $11 to win $10. In order to do this, they need to offer a bet that they think half their bettors will bet onNew Englandand the other half will bet onNew York. Right now, Vegas thinks that the Patriots have a better chance of winning, so they are offering the Patriots -3 to entice more people to bet on the Giants +3 -110. Patriots backers who think thatNew Englandwill win by more than 3 points can also bet the spread at -110.

The Money Line Bet – The money line bet is a bet on which team will win the game straight up regardless of the spread.New England is favored, and that’s reflected in this line. The current odds on the money line are the New York Giants +120 and the New England Patriots -140. This means that if you want to bet the Giants to win, you can bet $10 to win $12, but if you want to bet on the Patriots to win, you will need to bet $14 to win $10.

The Over/Under Bet (also known as the Total Bet) – This is a bet on the total number of points scored in the game. The current over/under on the Super Bowl is 55, and you can bet on whether you think the combined final score of the game will be over 55 points or under 55 points.

Let’s do some examples to make sure everyone understands this bet. IfNew Englandscores 20 points and the Giants score 22 points, the total number of points scored in the Super Bowl would be 42 points. This is under the 55 points, so if you bet on the under, you would win, and if you bet the over, you lose. Now let’s say that the Patriots score 35 point andNew Yorkstill scores 22. The combine score would be 57 points, more than the Super Bowl total bet of 55. So if you bet the over, you would win, and the under bet would lose.

Proposition Bets (or Prop Bets) – Prop bets are bets that can be on just about anything, and there are usually 100s of different prop bets offered for the Super Bowl. These bets can range from the total number of yards that Tom Brady will throw for to the number of times the announcers talk about Eli Manning’s brother, Peyton. Some of the most unusual ones are based on the amount of time it takes to sing the national anthem or on the sets list of the Super Bowl halftime show. Some standard prop bets that are offered every year are which team will score first, will there be a safety, will there be a kickoff return for a touchdown, and even who will win the coin toss?

Super Bowl prop bets have become as legitimate as the spread, the money line and over/under bets. When there are 100s of bets offered, bettors can usually find some bets that they like. A lot of bettors also play fantasy football, and prop bets (such as the number of yards for Victor Cruz or will Rob Gronkowsk score a TD) cater to the fantasy football community.

This is our list of where and how to bet on the Super Bowl. This list was written for the 2012 Super Bowl XLVI inIndianapolisbetween the New England Patriots and the New York Giants, but it can really apply to any Super Bowl in any year. These are the basics of what you need to know to bet on the Super Bowl, and we assumed that since you are reading this, that’s exactly what you plan to do. So good luck! We hope you win every bet you place!

PS. If you are here looking for a complete list of prop bets offered on the Super Bowl, we have them here. (LINK) Good luck!

Congratulations to all the New England Patriots and New York Giants fans! A rematch of the 2007 Super Bowl. So much fun!

As always we are ranking the best Online Sports Books available for betting on the Super Bowl. For anyone who has been following these rankings in the past, it should come as no surprise that the top ranked sportsbook this year is Bovada. Designed specifically for US players, this company is safe, customer focused and user friendly. They offer great signup bonuses for sports bettors as well as casino and poker players, and they offer more bets on the Super Bowl than any other online sports book. This site really takes betting online to a whole new level.

#1. Bovada – Created specifically for US players, Bovada is at the top of our ratings for finances, customer service, software, website design, bonuses and wagers offered. Established in 1995, few sportsbooks can compete with Bovada when it comes to offering a fun and hassle-free experience when betting sports online. We highly recommend them for all you Super Bowl betting needs. ACCEPTS US PLAYERS.

#2 BoDog – BoDog is in the same family of sportsbooks as Bovada. Almost everything we’ve said about Bovada can also be said about BoDog except for one major difference. BoDog does not accept US players. These sportsbook is primarily focused on Europe and Canada, so if you live in either of those regions, we suggest you give BoDog a try. DOES NOT ACCEPT US PLAYERS.

#3 Pinnacle Sports – Like Bovada, Pinnacle offers great security, customer service and software, but there are two main areas where they differ. First off Pinnacle does not accept US players, so if you live in America you cannot bet with them. Secondly Pinnacle doesn’t offer good deposit bonuses, but they make up for that with by offering the lowest bookmaking margins in the world. That’s right the lowest in the World! If you live outside the US, you should give them a try. DOES NOT ACCEPT US PLAYERS.

#4 William Hill – This is another excellent site for sports betting and probably the best one located in the UK. William Hill primarily caters to the European market and even trades on the London Stock Exchange. Unfortunately, they do not accept US players, but if you are located in the UK they are worth a look. DOES NOT ACCEPT US PLAYERS.

#5 Bet365 – One of the internet’s oldest sports books, Bet365 is a great place to bet on the Super Bowl, unless you live in the USA or France. DOES NOT ACCEPT US OR FRENCH PLAYERS.

#6 Bookmaker – Strong financial and customer services ratings make Bookmaker one of our recommended sportsbooks. They also take US players, so if you’re looking for another option from Bovada, Bookmaker is it. ACCEPTS US PLAYERS.

#7 BetOnline – This sportsbook also accepts US players. They are well established, trust worthy and have good customer service. The only knock against them is that their software isn’t as nice as some other online sports books. That said, they are still a good sports book, and worthy of our recommendation. ACCEPTS US PLAYERS.

As always these are our top 7 recommended sports books for betting on the Super Bowl. There are a lot of sports books online, and it’s important to use one that you can trust. There is nothing worse than arguing with a site about a bet or winning a big bet and not knowing if you will ever see the money. We talk to operators of these sites several times a year. They are the best in the business, we have no problems recommending them.

If you use a sportsbook that we did not list here, we’re not saying that it is not a good sportsbooks, we are simply saying that in our opinion, it’s not of the best. There are plenty of decent sportsbooks that did not make our list and many more bad sportsbooks that didn’t make it either. If you are betting on the Super Bowl this year, we hope that you will do it with a sportsbook that you can trust.

Good Luck and thanks for stopping by.

That was the question that we were asked by more than a few people in 2006 right before we started this site. Super Bowl XL played between the Seattle Seahawks and the Pittsburgh Steelers seemed to spark a lot of public interest in betting on the big game and in betting it online. At this point, seasoned gamblers had been betting online for years. It was the average everyday NFL fan that wanted the ability to make a bet that was looking for answers.

We’re not sure we’ll ever know what it was about the 2006 Super Bowl that sparked so much public interest in betting on the Super Bowl online. Maybe it was the first time that so many people had access to fast internet connections. Maybe it was the fact that the Steelers have millions of fans (they are the second most popular team in the NFL behind the Cowboys). Maybe it was the spread on the game (the Steelers were favored by 4). Maybe it was the controversy surrounding the officiating of the game (the Seahawks lost by 11, but because of some terrible calls many people think that Seattle should have won the game outright.) Whatever the reason was, all the public interested was what made us start this site.
Since then, we have been providing news, odds and bets during the NFL playoffs and Super Bowl to help the public understand was bets are offered on the game and what sportsbooks they can trust their money with. Unfortunately online gambling isn’t properly regulated yet. Over the year there have been a lot of fly by night operations that set up set up as an online sportsbook, but then disappear shortly after with all their customers money. Some of these sites have been scams and others have just been failed businesses that never got off the ground. This is a big reason why you should never bet with a sportsbook that you don’t know and trust. This is also the reason that every year we rate and recommend our most trusted online sportsbook, so that you can have faith that you money isn’t going to disappear.

For the last several years we’ve rated Bovada (rebranded from BoDog) as the best online sportsbook, and they will receive the same ranking this year. Bovada is a trusted online sportsbook that has been around since for over 16 years. They keep every customer deposit in a separate, secure bank account to ensure that their money is safe. They also have great customer service with an open and friendly staff, but most importantly they offer an incredible amount of bets on the NFL Super Bowl.

Every year we monitor every online sportsbook to see what Super Bowl bets they are offering and for the last several years Bovada has crushed the competition. Their list of available prop bets goes on for pages. They offer standard ones like will Eli Manning throw over or under 310 yards or how many turnovers the Patriots will have. They also offer bets that no one else offers like “What will Kelly Clarkson wear to sing the National Anthem?” or “What color will Madonna’s hair be when she begins the Super Bowl Halftime show?”

They also offer live in game betting. Bovada was the first online sportsbook to offer this. Now more and more online books and even some sportsbooks in Las Vegas offer in game betting.

If you’re not familiar with in-game betting, it allows you to place a bet after every play. A lot of places don’t offer it because it’s too hard to calculate odds after every play, and most bettors don’t want to places a ton of bets on the game. But if you are watching the game and notice something that you think might influence the game’s outcome, and you play with Bovada, you can always log onto your online account and make a bet at any point during the game.

So we will be posting a complete list of good, trusted online sportsbooks in about a week. If you are looking for one today, you can’t go wrong with Bovada. Hopefully with this site and this post we’ve helped answer the question “How do I bet on the Super Bowl?”

If you have any questions on how to make basic bets (such as spread bets, money line bets, and over/unders), we’ll be reviewing all of these in the next couple of days too.

Good Luck! We hope you enjoy and win some money betting on the Super Bowl!

“How can I bet on the Super Bowl?” We hear this question a lot this time of year, and there are many ways to answer it. If you’re looking for a great online sports book try Bovada (link on the right of the page). If you’re are looking for a tutorial on how to bet the spread, the money line and/or prop bets, we’ll be explaining all of these early next week. If you are just looking for updated Super Bowl odds we have that information listed below!

Odds to win the 2012 Super Bowl XLVI
New England Patriots 6/5
New York Giants 3/1
San Francisco 49ers 3/1
Baltimore Ravens 6/1

2012 NFL Playoffs – Which Conference will win the Super Bowl?
AFC -135
NFC +105

2012 NFL Playoffs – What will be the match up in the 2012 Super Bowl XLVI?
San Francisco 49ers vs. New England Patriots 6/5
San Francisco 49ers vs. Baltimore Ravens 9/2
New York Giants vs. New England Patriots 9/5
New York Giants vs. Baltimore Ravens 13/2

NFL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
Baltimore Ravens +9 (-125)
New England Patriots -9 (+105)

New York Giants +3 (-130)
San Francisco 49ers -3 (+110)

A lot of people have asked us what team we bet to win the Super Bowl. Well we don’t make that information public, but believe me we’ve placed than just a bet or two. After this weekend’s games when the Super Bowl teams are determined, there was will literally hundreds of different bets that you can make on this game. You can bet the coin toss, the first TD, the first interception, the Super Bowl MVP… the list of Super Bowl bets goes on and on every year. You should even be able to bet on the singing of the Star Spangled Banner and the halftime show. If there is one event that the Las Vegas sports books love, it’s the Super Bowl.

Right now we’ll look at potential Super Bowl match ups. The first one we’ll look at is the San Francisco 49ers vs. the New England Patriots. These are this weekend’s favorites, so if Las Vegas is right, these two teams are the most likely to meet in the Super Bowl. This would be a great match up between Tom Brady and the Patriots awesome offense against the one of the best defenses in the league. Tom Brady has already been to the Super Bowl 4 times and he’s won it 3 times. Would you bet on him doing it again? Or would you rather bet on Alex Smith, Michael Turner and the incredible 49ers defense to win this Super Bowl match-up? This game would draw huge ratings, and it’d be great to have teams from both coasts playing on Super Bowl Sunday.

The next match up would be the New York Giants vs. the New England Patriots. This would be a rematch of the 2007 Super Bowl were the Giants beat and undefeated Patriots team. This match up would put the two best quarterbacks still in the playoffs into the Super Bowl. Tom Brady vs Eli Manning. According to Bloomberg.com, this matchup in the Super Bowl might become the most-watched show in the history of U.S. television. Brady’s will be supported by a cast of offensive weapons in teammates Rob Gronkowski, Deion Branch, Aaron Hernandez, Wes Welker and BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Eli Manning’s best offensive weapons include Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz, Mario Manningham, Ahmad Bradshaw, and Brandon Jacobs.

The third most likely Super Bowl (according to the odds makers) would be a match-up between the San Francisco 49ers vs. the Baltimore Ravens. This could be a great one because the Harbaugh family, Jim Harbaugh coaches the 49ers while John Harbaugh coaches the Ravens. Meanwhile Ray Rive will probably be the biggest football star on the field. The Ravens quarterback is Joe Flacco, and he’s not exactly star material. The same can be said for the 49ers QB Alex Smith. Flacco will be supported not only by Ray Rice, and also be team mates Ricky Williams, Anquan Boldin, Lee Evans and Torrey Smith. Alex Smith will be handling off and throwing to Michael Turner, Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree, Kendall Hunter and David Akers. Baltimore also has some star power on defense with the likes on Ed Reed and Ray Lewis.

The least likely Super Bowl matchup that you can bet on is the New York Giants vs. the Baltimore Ravens. Neither of these teams are favored to win this weekend, and most people will be betting on one of both of them losing. The odds on the Giants/San Fran game actually opened as even, and so many gamblers bet on the 49ers right away that the Las Vegas sports books has to adjust the spread to the 49ers minus 2.5. That said, we wouldn’t mind seeing this match up. This would be an interesting rematch from the 2001 Super Bowl were the Ravens beat the Giants and easily covered the Spread. Interestingly that was one of the first Supers Bowl that you could bet online. Now you can bet almost anything online especially the Super Bowl.

We’ll be back this week with a full list of all the possible props bet on this weekend’s NFL games. We’ll also be back early next week with a step by step guide on how to bet the Super Bowl, including what sports books to use, how to read the odds and how to place your bets. Thanks for reading. See you soon!

Over the next couple of weeks we will be evaluating a large number of online sports books and recommending which ones we believe will be the best to use to bet on the NFL Super Bowl. We will look not just at reputation and past history of Super Bowl odds and bets available (although this will be a part of it), we will also be looking at the odds, the payout methods and Super Bowl prop bets each internet sports book is offering for the 2012 game.

Currently our #1 Online Sports Book is Bovada (see the link on the right side of the webpage). If you want to bet on the Super Bowl today, you can’t go wrong with them. This book has been one of our top 5 sports books to bet the Super Bowl with since 2006 and has been the number 1 sportsbook for the Super Bowl for the last two years.

After the Giants win tonight there are only 4 teams that you can bet to win the Super Bowl. Congrats to all this weekend’s winners.

The fun started yesterday when the San Francisco 49ers beat the Saints in San Fran. The 49ers won the game and covered the spread when Alex Smith completed a 14 yard touchdown pass to Vernon Davis with 9 only seconds left! This was Davis’s second touchdown catch of the game. Smith also ran for a touchdown and threw another TD pass to Michael Crabtree. Everyone’s favorite fantasy football kicker David Akers, who kicked 44 field goals during the regular NFL season, also kicked 3 field goals in the game. The 49ers star running back Michael Turner didn’t score but ended up with 89 rushing yards and 38 receiving yards in the game.

The 49ers have a lot of star power. I’m sure a lot of people will be betting on them to win the Super Bowl, and if they make it to the Big Game, there should be some great prop bets offered on their players.

The second winner yesterday was the New England Patriots who simply destroyed the Broncos. The spread on this game was 2 touchdowns, and that obviously wasn’t enough. People love to bet on the Patriots and Tom Brady to win the Super Bowl. Brady is already a two time Super Bowl MPV, and this team Patriots team is stacked with talent.

Tom Brady set am NFL playoff record yesterday by throwing for 6 touchdowns in a single game. The first one was to Wes Welker less than 2 minutes after the game started. He followed that with three touchdown passes to Rob Gronkowski, one to Deion Branch, and another to Aaron Hernandez. Brady was on fire! The Patriots kicker, Stephen Gostkowski, ended the game with 6 extra points and a field goal.

With Green Bay’s lose to the New York Giants, the New England Patriots are the odds on favorites to win the Super Bowl. They have gone to the NFL Super Bowl 4 times since Tom Brady has taken over at quarterback, and they won it 3 of those times. If you want to bet on the Patriots to win the Super Bowl, do it now! The odds will only get worse if (or when) they beat the Baltimore Ravens next week. That said, if you like any team to win the Super Bowl, you should bet on them now. For example, if the Ravens win next week, their odds will change drastically to win the Super Bowl once they are actually playing in the Super Bowl!

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Texans in today’s first game. The Ravens all-star defense was lead by veteran stars Terrell Suggs, Ed Reed and Ray Lewis, and their offense was lead by quarterback Joe Flacco and wide receiver Anquan Boldin. Ray Rice was relatively quit today he had 21 carries for only 60 yards. Joe Flacco threw 2 TD passes today, the first was to Kris Wilson and the second was to Boldin. Lee Evans and Torrey Smith were both quiet on the day. The Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff had 2 extra points and 2 field goals on the day.

The Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl would enable Las Vegas to create some very interesting Super Bowl prop bets. You never know what this team is going to do and who is going to do it. One week it looks like Joe Flacco sucks and Ray Rice is carrying the team, the next week Rice is ineffective and Flacco and Anquan Boldin step up. But if there is one reason to bet on the Ravens to win the Super Bowl, it’s their defense. The saying is “Defense wins Championships (aka Super Bowls)”. If that is still true today, you should expect the Ravens, the 49ers or the Giants to win the Super Bowl as they have some of the best defenses around.

The last winner today was the New York Giants who knocked off last year’s Super Bowl Champions, the Green Bay Packers. Eli Manning threw 3 touchdown passes, two were to Hakeem Nicks and one was to Mario Manningham. Fantasy football star Victor Cruz was relatively quiet today with 5 catches for 74 yards. Giants running back Brandon Jacobs rushed for a touchdown and Ahmad Bradshaw lead the team with 63 rushing yards on the day. New York’s kicker, Lawrence Tynes, was good for 4 extra points and 3 field goals.

As he said at the beginning of the year, Eli Manning is proving that he is an elite NFL quarterback. He has already won the Super Bowl once with the Giants, and they have a good shot at winning the Super Bowl again. The New York Giants also have a great shot at meeting the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl again for a rematch of Super Bowl XLII. Who would you bet on this year?

Congratulations again to the teams who won this weekend. We’d love to see any of them win the Super Bowl. The Baltimore Ravens, the New York Giants, the New England Patriots and the San Francisco 49ers… One of these teams will win the 2012 NFL Super Bowl. Which one are you going to bet on?
