Updated NFL Super Bowl odds and week 6 betting thoughts

Wow, it’s already week 6 of the NFL. The Super Bowl is getting closer and closer… There are 11 more weeks of the regular season that will determine which teams make it to the playoffs. Then their are weeks of the playoffs which determine the best team for the NFC and the best team for the AFC. Then these two teams meet in the biggest, most watch sporting event of the year, and the winner is NFL champion, aka Super Bowl winner.

You can bet on who will win the Super Bowl now. Surprisingly (to me at least) the Dallas Cowboys are still the favorite to win it all at 5-1 odds. The New York Giants and the Tennessee Titans are tide for second favorite at 8-1 odds. After these two, the Washington Redskins, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the San Diego Chargers and the Indianapolis Colts are all listed as 12-1 odds. All odds are from Bodog.

Interestingly, 3 teams from the NFC East on among the top teams to win the Super Bowl. The only one not listed above is the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Eagles are a good squad. The NFC East is a powerhouse this year, and it’s too bad that the whole division won’t get a shot at the playoffs.

Weekly betting: The New York Jets look great this week. They are coming off of a bye, Cincy’s QB is out, and they have Brett Favre throwing to some great wide receivers. If you are looking for a good bet this week, check them out.

It’s the economy stupid… and week 6 in the NFL

Well, this economy looks screwed. The US government is actually going to start buying bank stocks for the first time since the Great Depression. What does that tell you? It tells me that the government is buying low to sell high.

It’s actually not a bad move as long as the companies that they are investing in don’t go bankrupt… Of course they won’t go bankrupt because the more money the company needs the more stock the government will buy. Then eventually the financial companies stock prices will right themselves, their stocks will increase, and the US government will sell them for profits.

That’s in a prefect world, but honestly, could it happen any other way? Not unless the whole financial model explodes. Stocks will eventually go up again and the government can wait 10 years to sell the stocks that they are buying today at at least 50% less than these stocks were a year ago. Not to bad federal government. Can I interest you in a Super Bowl Bet too?

In fact, I’ve been buying stock this whole week. Not a ton, but I just keep buying more every time the market goes down. So yes, I’ve been buying stock everyday. Am I worried that I’m going to lose all my money? Hell no. I’m not selling this stock for years and years, and just like the government, I can hold this stock until it’s profitable again.

Anyway, this was my ramble about the economy… Now back to football…

My NFL Sports Betting week 6 bets:

Indianapolis Colts -4 - Indy isn’t the team that it’s been in the past, but I think that they should win this one at home.

Cleveland Browns +8 - On Monday night, I expect the Browns to cover against last year’s Super Bowl Champs… am I crazy?

Dallas Cowboys -5½ - they were early season favorites to win the super bowl for good reasons. they are a good team and will show it this weekend.

New England Patriots +5 - no Super Bowl for this team this year, but I think that they could cover and maybe even win this week.

That’s it. Book the Picks and remember us for all you Super Bowl Sports Betting information.

This Super Bowl site needs a bump

Okay, I just googled “Bet the NFL Super Bowl”, and this site was no where to be seen. Yet it is great in yahoo and MSN… I’m not sure what the hell happened to my google ranking, but I assume that the site was hit with some new kind of google filter. I hate that. This is is named Bet the NFL Super Bowl and the damn URL is the same. I don’t know, but if you ask me, it should be the first hit in all searches.

Anyway, it’s week 6 in the NFL already and things are very interesting. The Cowboys look really good, but so do the Washington Redskins, the New York Giants, and the Philadelphia Eagles. The whole NFC East looks awesome this year. Who would have thought that the Skins would be this good? No one. And the Giants, last year’s Super Bowl winners, where underrated by everyone this year, but they have been kicking ass since their first game this season.

The Bills have come out of no where and are now 4-1…

The San Diego Charges also suck now. I mean they lost to the Miami Dolphins last week, yet some how they are favored by 5 over the New England Patriots this week. I’m not sure how they are favored by this much, maybe because they are at home and Tom Brady is out of the year, but I doubt that the Charges will win this game by more than 5 if at all.

Fantasy teams have taken huge hits this year with Tom Brady going down in week 1. One year I lost my 1st round draft pick early in the season, and I have to tell you, it kills your team. Of course, drafting a Quarterback in the first round is a dumb move that you kill your team anyway. The best is to take Running Backs in the first 2 rounds. They are too rare to wait to take. Good QBs can be picked up in the later rounds. Good running back can’t.

Well this stream of consciousness has run a few paragraphs, and I’m getting tired, so I’ll probably be leaving soon. Anyway, I hope that you continue to visit this site and remember us when you want to bet the Super Bowl. Thanks!
